How Long Does Pipe Relining Last?

Pipe Relining
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Water pressure, clogging, and corrosion can cause damage to your sewer pipes and because they are underground it can be difficult to determine just how much damage has occurred. If you are experiencing problems with your sewer pipes like the signs we mention below then you should probably consider pipe relining.

Let’s look at a few signs that could help you identify that it’s time for pipe relining.

Signs Your Pipes Need Attention

There are some external signs of a damaged water pipe that you can look out for.

Bad Smells

You will start to smell a gas-like odor coming from your sewage and drains, this is a sign that something isn’t right. If you have bad smells coming from any of your sinks in the kitchen or your bathroom, you should call a professional Rooter Company.

Clogged Drains

If the water is draining too slowly in your sink, shower, or bathtub, you may be experiencing a water clog somewhere in your piping system.

Flooding Near Your Property

If you notice your lawn getting soggy with pools of water, it’s a sign that your pipes are clogged and this could lead to extensive flooding.

Pests Near Your Property

If you have any cracked sewer pipes, you may be inviting a rodent infestation because they enter from cracked pipes around your home.

Visible Mold

If your pipes are damaged, water can run into the walls, ceilings, and floors, leading to the growth of mildew and mold. Mold is not good for the health of you or your family and can cause allergic reactions. If you notice any wet patches in these areas, be sure to get them checked out as soon as possible – before it causes any more damage.

Cracking Walls

Damaged pipes can also lead to cracking walls and weak foundation. Erosion of the soil in the surrounding area of your damaged pipes is caused by excess water seeping into the ground. This leads to the weakening of the soil over a period of time.

What Is The Pipe Relining Process?

An inspection using a small camera will be done to inspect the condition of your pipes so the technician will be able to evaluate the extent of the damage. The pipes will then be cleaned with professional machinery. A pipe liner tube made from fiberglass cloth is assembled and a blue-light epoxy resin is applied to the pipe lining. The pipe lining is placed inside the sewer pipe and inflated and then cured to the old pipe.
