In The Air Tonight

air conditioning
Reading Time: 2 minutes

It was a dark and stormy night… Flashback to July 1902 in Buffalo New York where a young engineer, Willis Carrier, working in a printing company, was faced with the problem of paper expanding and contracting making it very difficult to print on consistently. Carrier files the drawings for what would become known as the world first air conditioner.

The concept was brilliant in that if you could control humidity you could also control temperature. Fast- forward a few decades, and now over eighty percent of all homes and businesses in the United States have some form of air conditioning. The ability to control our climates has had vast reaching, positive side effects on everything from the movies to the economy; in fact it affects almost every aspect of our lives.

As with all things, the modern day air conditioner must be given the proper love and attention to perform at its best. The biggest issue I see on a day to day basis is that people ignore the air in their homes as long as it is working. This my friends is by far the worst thing you can do to one of the most important and expensive systems under your roof. You change the oil in your car, you get an annual physical from the doctor, why not do the same for your air conditioner! And thus, I offer up the following for your perusal:
