If you are having some plumbing problems in your home, you are probably not alone. There are several plumbing problems that are common issues. If you don’t feel comfortable tackling these problems on your own, Art Plumbing and Air Conditioning in Coral Springs has the knowledge and experience to handle any plumbing problems quickly and efficiently.
Five Common Plumbing Problems:
1 — Clogged Drains
Is your kitchen sink not draining properly after you do the dishes? Or is your bathroom sink clogging while you shave? Maybe it is your shower that seems to be taking forever to drain and has you standing in a deep puddle every morning. If so, you have a common plumbing problem…clogged drains.
Drains are frequently victims of wear and tear as they are used quite frequently. Large items that get flushed through a drain can get stuck, blocking the water and causing the clog. The good news is that most clogged drains can be cleared with a plunger that causes a suction and helps dislodge the stuck item. When trying to unclog a sink, fill the sink with water and then start to plunge up and down a few times.
2 — Clogged Toilet
Similar to how a drain can get clogged, a toilet will also back up if something large was flushed down the toilet, or if there is a buildup of waste. While this can be an unpleasant plumbing problem to deal with, it is something that you might be able to fix yourself without having to call in an expert.
As with a clogged drain, a plunger could help the backed up toilet. If you find that the plunging is not fixing the issue, you might want to try using a snake tool that will help you navigate into the pipes to try to release any clog. When in doubt, call Art Plumbing and Air Conditioning to help with your clogged toilet.
3 — Leaky Faucets
Can you hear the dripping of one of your taps right now? Does turning the faucet in the off position do nothing to stop the drip? If so, you have a leaky faucet, which is another very common plumbing problem.
You don’t want to leave a leaky faucet too long, as the excess water can cause damage and might even result in higher water bills each month. For leaky faucets, often the culprit is a worn out washer. Check if the washers are worn out and replace them if necessary.
4 — Weak Water Pressure
There is nothing like trying to take a shower with weak water pressure. Having weak water pressure in your shower is another common plumbing problem.
In this situation, it likely means there is a lime scale buildup. Taking care of a lime scale buildup on your own involves taking the shower head off of the hose and soaking it is descaling solution to clean it.
5 — Running Toilet
After the toilet flushes does it continue to run? A running toilet is another common plumbing problem. Typically toilets run when the flapper valve inside the tank is letting water pass from the tank to the toilet bowl, if the float is imbalanced or the fill tube comes loose.
If it is one of these common plumbing problems, then a home repair job will likely do the trick. However, if the toilet continues to run after these potential problems have been addressed, it could be a sign of a more serious issue.
