Whole Home Generator Installation, What to Expect

Whole Home Generator
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Thinking about a whole home generator? They are a necessity when trying to return your life back to normal after a hurricane. Art Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electric has a trusted five-step process for whole home generator installation:

1. Inspect

Our team will start by conducting a detailed inspection of your current electrical layout. We want the new system to interface seamlessly with your existing wiring. At Art Plumbing, Air Conditioning & Electric we only use Generac whole home generators, and hold select dealer status with them. If you’d like the transition to generator power to be seamless, we can also install a Generac transfer switch which integrates the generator feed into your home when grid power is lost. We can also install their Mobile Link system which allows you to monitor your generator supply from your mobile phone, anywhere in the world!

2. Install and Position

Once we have a clear idea of your needs from a wiring and transfer perspective, the next step is to position and install your new generator. We will work closely with you during this time to ensure that the unit is placed in the location you prefer.

3. Wiring

With the generator installed, the necessary wiring from it to the transfer switch and distribution box needs to be completed. Depending on the location, this process may take some time as adequate UV-shielded cable is necessary as well as appropriate earthing techniques.

4. Testing

With all the physical side of the installation over, what remains is to simulate a blackout. Our team will make sure that the generator functions as intended and stable power is restored. In addition to this, we check any automatic transfer systems and connectivity to your mobile phone if specified.
