Reading Time: 2 minutes

Known as the Sunshine State, South Florida boasts a tropical climate all year round. With temperatures soaring as high as 98°F, we all know that there’s no better way to escape the heat than heading indoors to a well air-conditioned home. If you’re ever had the unfortunate experience of being stuck in a hot, stuffy house, you’ll know just how important a good air conditioning system is – especially in the height of summer. But how do you know which air conditioning systems are best for your needs and more importantly, how do you know that you’ve chosen the most energy efficient air cooling system for your home or office space?

When buying an AC system for your home or business, there are a few things to consider. Things like timer capabilities, energy efficiency, controls, and comfort all play a huge role in making the right choice. So, before you head out and buy the first AC system you stumble across, here’s a quick guide on the different types of air conditioning systems out there.

Central air conditioning system

If you’re needing to cool a large area, office space, an entire house, or even a gym, then this type of AC system is the right choice for you! Comprised of a huge compressor, central air conditioning systems have the capacity to produce tons of cool air perfect for creating a comfortable environment in big spaces.

Split air conditioner

As the name suggests, a split air conditioner comprises of two parts: the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The indoor unit houses the cooling fan and cooling coil while the outdoor unit is fitted with the compressor, condenser and expansion valve. A split air conditioner is perfect for cooling smaller spaces such as one or two isolated rooms.

Window air conditioner

A window type AC is another choice for small spaces such as bedrooms or small offices. This unit is fitted in a window sill or slot in a wall and comprises of a single box that holds all the components in one place. This type of AC unit blows cool air into the room and ejects the warmer air outside.

So, now that you know the different characteristics of each air conditioning unit, it’s time to call the experts at Art Plumbing, AC & Electric to help you choose the right AC for your cooling needs. Not only will we ensure that you save money on your monthly electricity bills, but we also make sure you invest in a AC unit that will increase the value of your home in the long run!
